The Kit List
Forest Essentials
You may have heard the saying 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing' and this has proven to be so true.
In order for the children to enjoy their time outdoors, they need to be prepared by wearing the right clothing and footwear.
In cold weather the children must wear layerd thermal clothing, warm jackets, warm hats, extra thick socks and extra thick water proof gloves.

Footwear must be non slip, waterproof, lightweight and warm. There are some good snow boots out there.
Wellies are not good in cold weather as they are not warm and very slippery. Wellies can be worn when not cold.
Waterproof trousers and jackets or waterproof overalls are needed as a top layer.
In warm weather the children must wear a lightweight long sleeve top and a lightweight pair of trousers to avoid insect bites and scratches.
Sun hats and sun cream for the sunny days. Insect repellent.
Lightweight, non slip, waterproof walking boots are necessary.
A pair of wellies should be provided for the very wet days when walking in puddles and mud is more than likely.
Waterproof trousers and jackets are needed as a top layer.
A back pack with spare clothing needs to be provided, nappies, nappy wipes and sacks if not toilet trained.
Clothing recommendations
Feet
In average weather we recommend wellies with 2 pairs of socks. The bottom a thin cotton sock then top sock a thick wool or fluffy bed sock, similar to those sold next to the checkout at H&M or Heat Holder socks are amazingly toasty!
Warm wellies are our recommended wellies until it’s properly cold, all LFF families can get 10% off online using code
LFF10.
When it gets very cold Happy Little Soles are our recommended supplier for snow boots and kindly offer all Tree House Friends enrolled parents 10% off by using the code TREES for Mikk-Line and Melton Thermal boots, the Bundgaard Sailor boots and the Bogs Neo Classic.
We also love Bogs child-friendly boots, perfect for wet weather days, click here for Bogs website.
Heads
A good hat is a must and JoJo Maman Bébé have lovely warm ones, although they aren't waterproof. However, we can always pop their hoods up on those occasional wet days.
Hands
We suggest thick, waterproof ski gloves. We have found that Didriksons do very good mittens for cold weather. Although, we have discovered that most children don't like the curtailment of freedom that they feel in such bulky gloves, so, alternatively, we recommend a multipack of woollen gloves such as these, available to buy online from H&M.
On really cold days, fleece mittens on top of the woollen gloves will help keep the children's hands extra warm.
